App costs and limits

Look up app plans, usage limits, autoscale, subscription recovery and app limits.

Plans

Every published app has its own monthly plan, paid in Sparks from the account's shared pool. Plans come in three sizes: S, M and L. The plan covers running the app: its operations, stored data and transfer. Every size includes hourly backups and unlimited users.

SizeSparks per monthOperations per monthStorageTransfer per month
S5,000250,0001 GB2 GB
M20,0001,000,00010 GB20 GB
L65,0004,000,00030 GB60 GB

You choose the size when you first publish, and change it later from the app Overview.

What counts

MeterWhat it measures
OperationsServer calls of the published app: every read and change by members, agents, workflows and MCP clients, plus the app's own scheduled work.
StorageThe app's records and files, including the preview copy of its data.
TransferData the published app sends out, such as file downloads.

Storage counts the whole app project, including the preview copy of the data; operations and transfer count the published app only. Building, checking and previewing consume Sparks separately as construction. Usage is refreshed several times a day.

Allowances reset with each renewal of the app subscription, which follows your Sparks cycle, or the app's monthly anniversary when there is none. Operations and transfer count from zero each period; storage is what the app holds at the latest reading.

Autoscale and limits

SituationWhat happens
80% of any allowanceThe workspace receives a warning notification.
Allowance used up, autoscale onExtra usage is charged in blocks from the shared pool and the app keeps working.
Allowance used up, autoscale offThe app becomes read-only until the allowances reset at the next renewal, or a plan change.
A block the shared pool cannot payThe app becomes read-only until you top up and retry from the Overview.

Autoscale is on by default. In read-only mode members, agents and workflows can still open and read the app; changes are refused. Nothing is deleted for billing reasons.

Extra block (autoscale on)Price
1,000,000 operations8,000 Sparks
5 GB storage4,000 Sparks
10 GB transfer3,000 Sparks

Each block is charged once per period, when usage first enters it. You are notified when autoscale charges a block or an app becomes read-only.

Changing plan

ChangeWhen it appliesCharge
Larger planImmediately, with its full allowance for the current period. The price difference for the rest of the subscription period.
Smaller planAt the next renewal. The smaller plan's price from that renewal.

Choosing the current plan again cancels a scheduled move to a smaller one. Partner operators with Editor access can change plans and autoscale during a live operator session, with charges on the customer workspace’s shared pool.

Billing rules

ItemCharge or rule
Building and changesAI building, verification and preview work consume Sparks separately.
First publicationCharges before provisioning. Retrying a failed publication does not charge the same period twice.
First periodProrated to the remaining account subscription cycle when a usable monthly cycle exists. Otherwise, a full month starts that day.
RenewalAligns with the account's monthly cycle when available; otherwise follows the app's monthly anniversary. Charged at the plan in force, or the smaller plan you scheduled.
Paused accessThe kill switch blocks access but does not stop renewal.
TrashRenewals pause. Restore within the paid period without starting another; after it expires, pay for a new period starting on restoration.
Partner operationOperator-started builds and previews are paid from the partner’s Sparks. App subscriptions and extra usage use the customer workspace’s shared pool, including when a partner publishes or changes the app plan.

The plan covers app use. Agent AI work and workflow execution retain their own Sparks costs.

Payment states

StateWhat happensWhat to do
ActiveThe current app period is paid.Check the next renewal and shared balance.
Payment pendingRenewal failed; the app stays open for seven days.Ask the owner to top up the shared pool.
Suspended after unpaid renewalAccess stops; source and records stay.Top up; Botchi reactivates the app after payment succeeds.

Publishing with an unpaid renewal requires payment of the amount due. Insufficient Sparks prevents publication or restoration of an expired subscription.

Backups

Every size includes hourly backups of the published app's data, with 30 days of restore points. Reading data for backups does not count toward the app's transfer. To restore, see Restore data from a backup.

EventWhat happens to backups
App deleted for goodBackups stop and expire within 45 days.
Workspace deletedBackups become unreadable at once and expire within 45 days.

Limits

LimitAllowance
Apps per workspaceFive, including drafts, active and suspended apps. Trashed apps and apps being deleted do not count.
Idle draftMoves automatically to Trash after 30 days without activity; the app warns you during the last week.
Trash retentionSeven days, then permanent deletion of app, database, test data and source.
App roles per assignmentUp to eight per business role or agent.
Uploaded iconPNG, JPEG or WebP; at most 2 MiB.
AI icon proposalsThree options per generation; each uses Sparks.

Move an unused app to Trash to free a slot. Restore a draft within the Trash window if you still need it.
